Cannabis, Depression and Psychosis, by Mark Stupak "The study, led by Avshalom Caspi and Terrie Moffitt, of the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College London, offers the best explanation yet for the way that cannabis has a devastating psychiatric impact on some users but leaves most unharmed. Scientists had suspected that genetic factors were responsible for this divide, but a gene had not been pinpointed." Wow, the word is out that cannabis yet again stands accused of creating destructive environment for people to scramble their brains. I did not know that, or is it just some bullshit cooked up by broke professors in a lame university, in a lame town, buck fuck nowhere in England. I bet the professor has a strong bias against all things pot so we have to assume that he knows best. You find which part of last sentence reeks of sarcasm. Cannabis in England was downgraded from the SCARY list of drugs like heroine and crack to not-so-SCARY list like dandruff removers and butt disinfectants. The dark forces have of course cooked up (read: paid for) another evil scary study to "prove" this time around that some people may be crazy before they smoke pot and some people get crazy after they start pot. Just on the surface of it, same story as with milk is a root cause of alcoholism because all alcoholics drank milk when they were young. The study tries to say that up to 25% of potheads are susceptible to psychosis. This tells me that out of 2 million Canadian Cannabis Smokers there is potentially half a million crazy potheads .... and we see them every day smoking their drugs, watching TV and smoking their drugs .... and watching TV ....... damn, pot makes me lazy. I know a lot of crazy people but I never thought, "Damn this dude smokes too much", mostly I think " Damn this dude needs to smoke up", Most of the crazy people I see out there are so stressed and scarred of daily life they need to relax a little bit and try some cannabis. We all know crazy, psychotic people, either cannabis smokers or not. The crazy factor, however can not be blamed on a plant since it's been used for 10000 years and no one yet remembers a war started by raving mad psychotic potheads or a mass suicide devoted to the God of Cheeba. I have red of many suicides cannabis gets blamed for, but EVERY time you read deeper behind the headline you can easily find that whoever committed suicide had problems ten times bigger than the rest of us. Cannabis is a form of dealing and escaping from a mentally troubling situation. It is no coincidence most gay people tried pot, most depressed people try pot and most psychotic people try pot. All these things cause by life makes us uncomfortable inside. Call it an escape. In a perfect life we could all ask our parents, peers, teachers to explain why men want to be women or why I feel the way I do or why daddy is touching me when I don't like it. BUT this is not a perfect world, most of us would rather close the curtains and take a break from the mental anguish of life. Smoking a joint and moving on is the way of life and pot facilitates this process. Some choose to keep getting stoned and pretend all is well and some prefer to get deep inside the brain to discover WHY they smoke. To put it simply, a human being will seek comfort first before seeking help, cannabis is a form of conform which should immediately beg a question, "so what is so wrong with your life that you need comfort from a plant?" Cannabis has the ability to close the curtains and help one think without outside interference. Some people come to the wrong conclusion and decide to off themselves, some people realize their strange, weird or normal and some realize their boring ..... all valid arguments given the freedom cannabis allows us to explore in our heads. It would be better if we could just talk about our problems without getting labeled as pussies (because men are not allowed to have feelings anyway and since I'm a man I need to conform) or resorting to cannabis to hide our true feelings. All people hide their real feelings because of their jobs, because of their status and some because they were raped and don't feel like sharing their broken minds with others. We all deal with life differently. The only thing that I can honestly say against the above mentioned study linking cannabis consumption and psychosis is please SHOW me one example of a real person driven to psychosis and not by their LIFE first. JUST ONE for God's sake. None? really. Well then FUCK YOU ):-) I can come up with thousand names affected positively by cannabis and they are all hiding. I hate hiding.
